Sebastian was part of the Great Kitty Rescue, a monumental undertaking in which Best Friends saved more than 650 cats from an abandoned sanctuary in Nevada. I wasn't in the market for a cat when I adopted him (or, just two months later, Ginseng, another cat), but our bond was immediate and intense. Knowing a bit about the horrific conditions at that Nevada shelter‚ it's difficult not to see a kind of miraculous resilience in Sebastian - a sweet, charming personality.

Sebastian would (I hope) tell you that, although I never spend enough time with him, he still thinks of me as his best friend.
