My sister Helen and I adopted our dogs, Spike and Drusilla, a brother and sister Golden Retriever/Corgi mix from a rescue group in Ohio. We drove from NJ to OH the day after Christmas to get them when they were two months old. We registered them in puppy classes (more to train us than them) and our trainers thought they would make great therapy dogs since they are Corgi size with Golden temperaments. Two years later, we have registered therapy dogs that visit the elderly several times a month.
I just saw a picture making its way around Facebook of a dog sitting in a man's lap that says, "This is my human. There are many like him, but this one is mine." Spike and Drusilla would say that we are theirs!
