When I was in kindergarten my parents decided to get a cat. We went to the Humane Association and my parents took me in the kitten enclosure. There was only one kitten awake. He crawled into my lap and I knew he was the one. Zephyr was loud and obnoxious and always managed to be in the way, but he also let me dress him up, raised my puppy two years later, and was a true member of our family. He passed away a few years ago, but I will always remember the little kitten who chose me.
Zephyr would say that he was glad I grew up. He knew I loved him when I was little, and he was the most patient cat on earth for letting me carry him around, dress him up, and learn how to care for an animal through him.
