The Shelter Pet Project

Maureen Mack

Walnut Creek, CA

Why Annie is so special:

We needed an adult cat who could play with Hershey but wasn’t too outgoing since he is still kind of a scaredy cat. Annie was plastered against the wall of her room in the shelter, looking like she was trying to be invisible.
She is learning to like her new home and her new brother. She strong-arms me when I try kitty cuddles, but I have convinced others that there is joy to be had in cuddling and she will learn it, too. In the meantime, Hershey hisses and runs from her; she just looks at him.

If your pet could talk, what would he or she tell us about you?:

I am testing her patience - she wants me to cuddle with her but I just want to be petted, you know, all the time.
