The Shelter Pet Project

Why Jewel is so special:

Jewel was my best friend! She met me at the door every day and insisted on sleeping on our bed every night. She followed me around the house and loved to "help" with my graduate school homework by sitting on my books and beating up the printer. She loved to talk. She was beautiful and playful and I completely adored her from the time we met, and she loved people. Even better, she loved me.

If your pet could talk, what would he or she tell us about you?:

Jewel would say we loved her very much! She knew we loved to play with her because she had tons of toys, and she knew we wanted her to be comfortable because we left boxes all over the house for her - she loved to sleep in them. Jewel got very sick and had to have 2 surgeries. She was in the hospital 3 times between Thanksgiving and Easter. We got her the best care we could, and even took her to UPenn Vet Hospital. Unfortunately, her surgeries did not work and we lost her at Easter last year. But Jewel knew how much we loved her, and she knew she was my furry baby and always will be. She was a once-in-a-lifetime pet.
